Zearala Test Columns Image

Zearalenone is an oestrogenic mycotoxin produced by the fungus Fusarium graminearum. Zearalenone induces feminisation in animals at concentrations in feed of about 1 ppm. Higher concentrations (50-100 ppm) can interfere with conception, ovulation, implantation, fetal development, and the viability of newborn animals.

Using monoclonal antibody-based affinity chromatography ZearalaTest can be used for the detection of zearalenone using immunoaffinity columns and a fluorometer or HPLC.

ZearalaTest is safe and simple. It can be performed in less than 15 minutes and requires no special skills. Results may be recorded using a digital fluorometer and ZearalaTest is also ideal as the cleanup step for any HPLC or TLC analysis. With ZearalaTest you have the best of all worlds: sensitivity, simplicity, and speed—quick tests for parts per million levels. In fact, no other test comes close for speed, quantification, and economy.

How it Works

  • Convenient – For use with fluorometer or HPLC
  • Durable – Long shelf life; requires no refrigeration
  • Versatile – For use with a variety of samples
  • Quick – Less than 15 minutes to isolate toxin*
  • Wide Range – Detects levels as low as 0.1 ppm and
    as high as 5 ppm
  • Safe – Requires less toxic materials than conventional methods

*excluding preparation and extraction

How to Use

  • Extract Sample

  • Grind and weigh sample

  • Add salt andmethanol/water or cetonitrile/watermixture

  • Filter

  • Dilute and filter

  • Dilute extract

  • Filter

  • Absorb and Elute

  • Pass filtrate over ZearalaTest affinity column

  • Wash column

  • Elute zearalenone and collect in cuvette

  • Measure

  • Add Developer and place cuvette into a calibrated fluorometer, or

  • Inject Eluate into HPLC

  • Determine zearalenone concentration

Using monoclonal antibody-based affinity chromatography, ZearalaTest™WB is an HPLC-only test for the detection of zearalenone using wide bore immunoaffinity columns.

Using monoclonal antibody-based affinity chromatography, ZearalaTest™WB is an HPLC-only test for the detection of zearalenone using wide bore immunoaffinity columns. With a total volume of 3mL, compared to the total of 1 mL in VICAM’s standard columns, ZearalaTest WB allows for the faster flow rate preferred by many laboratories and is the ideal cleanup step for any HPLC.

ZearalaTest WB is one of many wide bore columns available from VICAM.

How it Works

  • Exclusive – Specifically for HPLC use
  • Durable – Long shelf life; requires no refrigeration
  • Versatile – For use with a variety of samples
  • Quick –20 minutes to isolate toxin*
  • Wide Range – Detects levels as high as 1500 ng
  • Fast Flow – Passes more volume over the column
