AflaTest B IACs provide quantitative aflatoxin results for aflatoxin B1 & B2 (HPLC) or B1+B2 (fluorometer) to help screen products for legislative limits, which often require both total and B1 values.
Afla M1 IACs can determine extremely low (PPT) levels of aflatoxin in dairy products quickly, economically and effectively to ensure compliance wit glogal regulations.

Aflatoxins, produced in the environment by mould species, are Group 1 human carcinogens. They comprise four separate aflatoxins: B1, B2, G1, and G2 (so called total aflatoxins); however, in some cases only B1 is regulated; for example, within the European Community B1 is regulated at the 2ppb level.
Afla B™ from VICAM is the trusted aflatoxin B test that produces accurate and precise numerical results. Using monoclonal antibody-based affinity chromatography, Afla B can isolate aflatoxins B1 and B2 from feeds, food, grains, and nuts for either fluorometric or HPLC detection.
Whereas aflatoxin B1 can be separated out and measured alone by HPLC, in fluorometric measurements, the total of B1 and B2 is reported. It is estimated that B1 accounts for 94% of total B1 and B2 in corn and 82% in peanuts.
When mammals ingest aflatoxins in food, the derivative aflatoxin M1 is produced. Because it is a potent human carcinogen, the detection of M1 is critical, not least because M1 is expressed in milk, a major source of nutrition for infants, children, and adults. Throughout the world, there are significant regulations on the presence of M1 in dairy products. VICAM’s Afla M1™ HPLC is a fast flow column that delivers high recovery rates, from 75% to 95%, depending on the sample type.
Afla B testing is safe & simple and can be performed in less than 10 minutes, requiring no special skills. With Afla B, you have the best of all worlds: sensitivity, simplicity, and speed – quick tests for parts per billion or parts per trillion levels. In fact, no other test comes close for speed, quantitation and economy.

Aflatoxin B1 can be singled out and measured uniquely by HPLC, but in fluorometric measurements, total B1 and B2 is reported.
